The utility of socialisation

The achievement of which components of the complex target of our vocation is enabled by the socialised way of operation? What can you gain, which elements of our activity may benefit from this? There may be a multitude of different answers, however, we have identified the following main points:

  • you will reach out to new individuals and communities [1]; this will enable closer ties with the local communities and you become more deeply embedded in the community and organisational network in place in your village or town and we, as professionals, as well as your activities, leave the confines, and reach outside the walls, of your institution [2] ,
  • you provide a venue and opportunity for people to try themselves and test their capabilities, whereby your institution – besides your own activities and those of your co-workers – as a whole also turns into a community development tool [3], towards enabling the residents of your town or village to live their lives as active and acting, participating, citizens of their community,
  • an increasing number of people come to contribute to and enrich your institution’s [4] day-to-day activities and life with their advice, requests, by fully implementing events or even longer processes, as well as in a variety of other ways,
  • through talking to, having conversations with, residents and cooperating with their communities you can learn what they need, what you should do for – or rather, together with – them, and as a result you grow in importance to them, because you provide them with assistance and services in what, in the way in which, they need it.

But what do citizens gain from, how do they benefit from this system of socialised relationships? Active participation [5]  in the community’s [6] social and cultural life, the feeling of being of use, a sense of achievement that may be experienced in an acting community  [7], a potential source of joy in the individual’s life.
